The model’s epidermis, the skin that envelopes and protects him, screens me off, shuts me, the artist, out.  But with my x-ray gaze I carefully search, while I am drawing, for weaknesses in that protective layer.  It is there, in the vulnerable spots, that I hope to introduce my sketching hand.
