For the past few years my drawings rise, increasingly frequently, from the flatness of the surface; they become sketch-like objects. I attempt to combine the fragility of the paper, the transparency of the watercolour and the directness of the drawing into a tangible physical form.
I am convinced that intelligence and memory are not housed exclusively in the brain. The human figure, skin and muscles also carry memories; physical experience clearly stamps itself on the body. In my work I focus specifically on this aspect because it is important for one’s essence and function as a human being. I hope that my work arrives directly at this level and inspires the viewer to introspection and empathy.
